About the Department

The Department of Economics started its journey in 1983. It has been offering Undergraduate General Courses. During its long journey, the Department has produced many bright students who are working in diverse fields. A good number of our students have engaged in corporate and government sectors. The Department has always been successful in fostering interest in learning and education. Special lectures and talks on relevant areas of Economics are also arranged from time to time, in order to keep the students updated. Students’ seminars are an important feature of the Department. We also publish a yearly wall magazine, “Arthanitir Ruprekha” to encourage the creative and intellectual acumen of students. The Department has a seminar library which gives access of texts and references to students.

Knowledge of Economics is very necessary for WBCS examination, Banking Service, jobs in the corporate sector and several other job-related examinations.
