Admission Criteria

The University has prescribed that a “General Community” candidate taking up honours must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 45% in the concerned or related subject or 55% marks in the subject or related subject if he fails to obtain 50% marks in the aggregate at the previous qualifying examination.

Again University has prescribed that a S.C. and S.T. candidate taking up honours must have obtained a minimum of 40% marks in aggregate and 40% marks in the subject or related subject.

Marks obtained in top four subjects shall be considered to ascertain the aggregate marks of a candidate passing the examination under grade system. Also for candidates passing the H.S. (10 + 2) Examination from WBCHSE under old system, marks obtained in top five subjects shall be considered to determine their aggregate marks/eligibility for admission.

The names of the students selected for admission will be published on the College Notice Board and not communicated to students individually.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION
A. Original and attested copies of Admit Card and Mark-sheet of the last Council/ Board Examination.
B. Original and attested copies of the Admit Card of Madhyamik or equivalent examination as proof of the age.
C. Original and attested copies of certificate from the head of the institution last attended.
D. Original and attested copy of the cast certificate from the competent authority for S.C. and S.T. students.
E. Original Migration Certificate for students migrating from other Board/University if or wherever available.
F. Two copies of stamp sized photograph of the student.
RELEVANT INFORMATIONS.
1. A candidate who appeared but could not obtain pass marks in a subject at the previous qualifying examination, shall not be allowed to take up that subject in the Degree (Honours) course.
2. The case of students desiring to take up Hindi or Music or any other subject not taught in this College shall not therefore be entertained or considered for admission under any circumstances.
3. For admission to B.A., B.Sc., B.Com. (Honours & General), a student is required to have passed 10+2 course of W.B. Council of H.S. Education or Other Boards/ Universities in 5 (five) recognised subjects (full marks not being less than 100 each) of which at least one shall be a language.
4. Foreign students including those from Bangla Desh must submit in advance students’ visa and such other documents as are essentially required under the rules of the Govt. of India / West Bengal State University, Barasat, 24 Pgs (N).
